Networking & Events

We provide a host of networking opportunities with a large spectrum of professionals involved in all aspects of non-fiction storytelling, from the use of new technologies to public relations, branding & marketing. 



In conjunction with our members, we offer workshops, classes, lunch-and-learns, regular networking events, and can stage live events to help promote your work.  



Co-Working Space

Need a physical space? Consider adding the co-working option at American Underground @Main to your membership. *Additional $100 a month (of which NCNC receives $21 a month). 



Membership is based on demonstrated skill, professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to transparency and impeccable standardsExperienced and emerging journalists and non-fiction storytellers including: reporters, editors, photographers, videographers, columnists, radio/television producers, multi-media producers, data journalists, fact-checkers, publishers, book authors, documentary filmmakers, podcasters, bloggers, graphic artists, designers, illustrators, information graphic creators, cartoonists, librarians and archivists, journalism instructors. 

Are you not one of the folks listed above but would still like to be support the work of members by providing professional services such as legal, financial, public relations, marketing, organizational and other professional advice? Please consider becoming non-voting supporting affiliate



As a cooperative we ask that our members volunteer their time and talent (5 hours a year) or treasure ($300 a year) to support programs. Possibilities — help others fact-check, copyedit, shape stories, help with a connection to a needed source, or teach a lunch-and-learn. Together we can make everyone’s work better. Let's brainstorm what you can bring to the cooperative table!

$120 per year

Co-working option at American Underground @Main requires an additional $100 a month, of which the Newsroom Cooperative receives $21 a month.



We welcome independent publishers of news and other forms of nonfiction storytelling (such as documentary production companies) as well as distribution forms such as social media management and marketing. Upon approval of the Newsroom Cooperative Board, membership dues are $500 annually for up to five employees, and $1000 for entities with more than five employees.

*Applicants (and members) are required to disclose perceived or actual conflicts of interest related to work or membership relationships with any group. Cooperative board members approve membership based on ethics requirements, the professional quality of submitted work, and payment of dues. Individuals who do not meet membership REQUIREMENTS will be refunded Dues.
